About Us

It could be said that the feeling of compassion and human solidarity for the miserable, the abandoned, and the poor has been deeply felt in Serbia from ancient time, beginning with the Nemanjic rulers dynasty and St. Sava, continuing with the rulers who were renewing Serbia over and over, then Ilija Kolarac, and Archibald Reiss, all the way to the modern donators and bestowers.

     
Solidarity Foundation of Serbia exists for about four decades. It is a unique, nongovernmental and non-political institution gathering people of good will. By its various humanitarian activities it renders help to children without parent, developmentally disabled children, old and sick people, families that need help. The Foundation activities also cover the alleviating of consequences of earthquake, fire, flood, accidents in mines, and other kinds of natural catastrophes.
The Foundation manages the endowments and funds. Managing means fulfilling of the social-humanitarian aims designated by the founders in their testaments or contracts.
  The number of the social care institutions that were built, equipped or adapted with the help and initiative of the Foundation throughout Serbia is really large.
Respect, trust, genuine enthusiasm, fairness, responsibility those are the characteristics which proved the Solidarity Foundation of Serbia to be the house of human characteristics.
     

The Scope
of the Foundation Activities

  1. Manages endowments, funds and legacies,
  2. Participates in the building and equipping of the facilities for the accommodation of children without parents and handicapped children,
  3. Helps in the building of the facilities for the sick and the poor,
  4. Grants scholarships and helps the education of children without parents and children from poor families,
  5. Renders help to the population in alleviating consequences of natural or other catastrophes.
 

Funds of the Foundation

There are different sources of the Foundation's income. As a rule, they are based on the principle of solidarity and voluntarism. They comprise the following.

  1. Deposits of the co-founders, donators and the members of the Foundation,
  2. Gifts, bequests, legacies,
  3. Voluntary contributions,
  4. Property, endowments and funds established by citizens Yugoslav nationals and foreign citizens and companies, which are entrusted to the Foundation for management,
  5. Contributions from happenings organised by the Foundation (humanitarian concert, selling exhibitions, sports manifestations).
